Kidlington Gardening Society, formerly Kidlington Horticultural Society, meets at the Alan Walton (St John Ambulance) hall in Kidlington High Street, opposite Tesco, usually on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.45 pm. Meetings are free to members, £3 to visitors.
The hall was recently renamed after Alan Walton, who was not only a senior figure in the St John Ambulance, but was also a long-standing and tireless member of KGS, having held several posts, most recently that of Vice-president.
As well as our monthly meetings, which feature a range of speakers on topics related to gardening, we also have visits to gardens, flower shows and other places of interest. We have fundraising events during the year, including a Plant and Cake Sale in May.
In cooperation with Kidlington Parish Council and Cherwell District Council, we also contribute towards Kidlington in Bloom, which is part of the national Britain in Bloom scheme. Each year, KGS members design and plant the beds at Broadway and plant up hanging baskets which are displayed around the village.
